A stone benchtop is one of the most important decisions in a Perth kitchen renovation. It affects how the room looks, how it performs and how easy it is to maintain every day. At Ross’s, we carry six stone benchtop brands for your new kitchen — silica-free composite, vitrified compact surface, HybriQ+ hybrid, sintered stone and natural stone — with options suited to indoor kitchens, outdoor and alfresco applications, and buyers wanting genuine natural stone character. All six are available as part of a full kitchen purchase.

We carry six stone benchtop brands through our Guildford kitchen showroom, covering four material categories. Each has different performance characteristics, applications and price points. The right choice depends on your kitchen layout, whether the benchtop is indoor or outdoor, and your design brief.
Vitrum is a silica-free glass composite surface developed in Western Australia — the direct successor to QStone, which supplied the WA market from 2005. When the engineered stone ban came into effect, QStone reformulated and relaunched as Vitrum Surfaces, using approximately 86% amorphous material with zero crystalline silica. It gives buyers the engineered stone look they know, in a material that is safe to fabricate and install under current Australian regulations. Distributed exclusively in WA through JH Wilberforce in Malaga, Vitrum is a genuinely local product with a strong trade supply chain behind it.
Zenith is a Vitrified Compact Surface (VCS) made by Stone Ambassador, an Australian company operating since 2012. It is produced through a high-temperature vitrification process using up to 89% recycled materials including recycled glass, resulting in a zero crystalline silica, ultra-dense surface. Zenith is available in 40 colours across five price tiers — Essential through to Premium — making it one of the most flexible options in the range for buyers working across different budgets. Suitable for indoor kitchens and enclosed alfresco areas. Not warranted for direct outdoor sun exposure — for open alfresco applications, Dekton or Smartstone Sintered are the right choice.
Silestone is Cosentino’s HybriQ+ hybrid surface — a premium kitchen benchtop made from a hybrid mineral composition with a minimum of 20% recycled materials including recycled glass. It is non-porous, never needs sealing, and is scratch-resistant, stain-resistant and acid-resistant. Available in polished, suede and volcano finishes across a wide colour range, with edge profiles including eased, bevelled, bullnose, demi-bullnose, dove chest and mitred. Backed by a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty — the strongest warranty of any brand in our range. Suitable for indoor applications.
Smartstone’s Sintered Collection is a sintered stone surface produced by combining natural minerals under extreme heat and pressure — no resins, no metal compound binders, 100% natural minerals. It is explicitly excluded from the definition of engineered stone under current Australian regulations and is 100% UV-stable, making it one of the few options in our range fully suited to outdoor and alfresco benchtop applications. Available across three price tiers — Pure, Classic and Deluxe — in matt and suede finishes, with whites, creams, greys and blacks across veined and plain designs.
Dekton is Cosentino’s ultracompact sintered surface — a completely different product to Silestone, despite coming from the same manufacturer. It is produced through a sintering process that replicates geological metamorphic conditions using extreme heat and pressure, resulting in a zero-porosity surface with exceptional heat resistance and full UV stability. Dekton is suited to indoor and outdoor applications, including exposed alfresco kitchens and high-use cooking environments where heat tolerance is a priority. It is not classified as engineered stone under current Australian regulations.
Sensa is Cosentino’s natural stone range — real granite and quartzite sourced from Brazil and India, cut and treated with Cosentino’s proprietary surface protection. Unlike every other product in our range, Sensa is not engineered or manufactured — each slab is unique in pattern and movement, which is the defining characteristic for buyers who want genuine natural stone character. It carries a 15-year warranty, which is unusually strong for a natural stone product. Sensa requires more ongoing care than non-porous surfaces and buyers should view actual slabs before selecting, not just samples.
Stone benchtops at Ross’s are available as part of a full kitchen purchase. Visit our Guildford showroom to view the full stone range in person, discuss your kitchen layout and get a quote from our kitchen team. Slab selection, edge profiles, sink and cooktop cut-outs, and stonemason fabrication details are all worked through during the kitchen planning process.
If you have your cabinet layout ready, bring it in — it makes the slab selection process faster and gives our kitchen team a clearer picture of your space before you start looking at colours and finishes.
If you need a benchtop only — without purchasing a full kitchen — our DIY Densified Stone benchtops and laminate benchtops are available separately online. For a broader decision guide before visiting, read our how to choose a kitchen benchtop article.
Engineered stone benchtops are still available in Perth in compliant form. The ban — enforced under Safe Work Australia — applies to products containing 1% or more crystalline silica by weight. Compliant engineered stone options such as Silestone’s HybriQ+ formulation fall below that threshold and remain fully legal and available. It is also worth noting that sintered stone surfaces — including Smartstone Sintered and Dekton — are not classified as engineered stone under current regulations and fall outside the ban entirely. At Ross’s, we offer compliant stone benchtops across six brands as part of a full kitchen package.
The best stone benchtop depends on the application. For most indoor Perth kitchens, silica-free composite and HybriQ+ hybrid surfaces are strong all-round choices — non-porous, low maintenance and no sealing required. For outdoor and alfresco applications, sintered stone is the right call — Smartstone Sintered and Dekton are both 100% UV-stable and zero-porous. For buyers who want genuine natural stone character, Sensa granite and quartzite is available through our showroom. Our kitchen team can talk through the options based on your specific layout and brief.
Silestone benchtops do not need sealing. The surface is non-porous, so everyday spills sit on top and wipe away with warm water and a mild detergent. Sintered stone surfaces — Smartstone Sintered and Dekton — are also zero-porous and require no sealing. Natural stone options, including Sensa granite and quartzite, require more ongoing care and appropriate cleaning products. If you are considering a natural stone benchtop, our kitchen team can walk you through the maintenance requirements before you commit.
Stone benchtops are heat resistant, not heatproof, and tolerance varies by material. Sintered stone surfaces such as Dekton and Smartstone Sintered have exceptional heat resistance compared to hybrid and composite surfaces. Regardless of material, trivets and heat pads are recommended under very hot cookware — no stone benchtop is rated for direct contact with a pan straight off the hob.
The six stone benchtop brands available through our Guildford kitchen showroom are supplied as part of a full kitchen purchase. If you only need a benchtop, our DIY Densified Stone benchtops are prefabricated stone-look panels available to purchase online without a full kitchen package. Our laminate benchtops are also available separately online and come in a wide range of stone-look finishes.
